About Towner Cinema

Established in 2017 with the support of Arts Council England and Eastbourne Arts Circle, Towner Cinema has established a reputation for consistently delivering a thoughtfully curated and engaging film programme ranging from quality mainstream titles to independent gems and classic titles.

A state-of-the-art independent cinema equipped with a 4k HD projector & cinematic Dolby surround-sound, Towner Cinema’s eclectic programme, relaxed cafe bar, additional ‘cinema plus’ activities (such as introductions, Q&As and programme notes), and the intimate setting make it a more welcoming, dynamic and affordable alternative to the standard multiplex offer.

Our regular programming partners include Eastbourne Film Society, University of Sussex’s School of Media, Film and Music, Eastbourne Rainbow, and Eastbourne Cult Film Club. We’ll also work with local community groups in Eastbourne to mark occasions like LGBTQ+ History Month and World AIDS Day.

We aim to make the venue and programme as accessible as possible and our staff are always happy to assist with specific access requests. We have permanent space for two wheelchairs with capacity to increase further and offer complimentary tickets for carers. There is an integrated induction loop and we also regularly present captioned screenings where available. We also host special screenings for audiences who benefit from a more relaxed setting.
